The Greatest Gift Ever

Why do You love me!? That is what I want to know.

Your love is so deep, upon me why did You choose to bestow?

Your love is like fuzzy socks and toasty toes in front of the fireplace.

Or marshmallows, warm and gooey, and melting all over the place.

It’s like cinnamon and nutmeg, the smell of the spices fills the air,

And the thought of You sweetens my life everywhere.

Please don’t take Your love from me, I could never bear,

It’s the gift I want this Christmas, and every day of the year.

I am nothing, I am nobody,

but Your love makes me feel the opposite.

At the same time it brings me to my knees,

And makes me fly higher than the trees.

With the holidays near, and lights all around, none shine as bright as You

Alone deserve the Crown

My King.

How did I ever get Your attention, how do I ever deserve Your love?

I don’t! But You knew me before I was born, You loved me from above.

Please don’t take your love from me, I could never bear,

It’s the gift I want this Christmas, and every day of the year.

GIVING THANKS on Thanksgiving

Posted in Ministry, holiday, love with tags , , , , on October 27, 2009 by diamondjones

Thanksgiving-703525

Come on in where the table is spread, and the Feast of the LORD is going on!

Our 4th Annual GIVING THANKS on Thanksgiving outreach to the homeless will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.

This is a very special day for me, not only because it is Thanksgiving, but also because it was my mother’s birthday.

This is an outreach to the homeless, and needy, and poor – our brothers and sisters throughout this City who have nothing and no one.

This is a family-friendly outreach. I absolutely encourage you to join us, and if you know young people, bring them as well! The minimum age to help is 14 years old.

THE BOWERY MISSION
Thanksgiving Day 2009
Thursday, November 26
1:00-3:00pm

Let us truly give thanks this Thanksgiving, by looking outside of ourselves and our own provision, and showing God’s love, being an extension of HIS provision, and being a blessing to others who are in need.

(If you are not in the Tri-State metro area, we would appreciate if you could please keep this outreach in your prayers. Thank you!)

We will be collecting Blessing Bags for this outreach, to be distributed to the men and women who will be served on Thanksgiving Day.

“Blessing Bags” contain personal hygiene items and other necessities. If you are scheduled to volunteer, please bring all donations with you to The Bowery Mission. If you are not volunteering, but still would like to donate, we are in need of the following items:

Toothpaste
Shampoo
Razors
Socks (white and black)
Hats
Toothbrush
Deodorant
Shaving cream
Underwear (all sizes)
Gloves

Thank you for your kind and generous heart for homeless and hurting people in NYC! Your help serving meals this Thanksgiving can be the first step in a changed life.

Yom Kippur beings at sundown on Sept 27. Click on the link below, if you are unsure about what Yom Kippur is. And my fellow Christians, this is not just for “Jews.” We serve the same GOD.

Treat everyone with Dignity and Respect.
We are brothers and sisters. We are all One.
Be patient with people, and do not attempt to exalt yourself over someone else.
Say something kind every day, and practice goodwill to others.
Spread the love and help other people who are need.
You never know when you will be up, or when you could be down.
In everything, give thanks.
Happy Holidays!

What better time to show (or begin to show, if you never have) our goodwill to others than the holidays!
Leave things better than how you found them
For example
a small, but common example of how you can do this
at McDonalds, we’ve all been to McDonalds or some fast food place
clean up after yourself
take a napkin and wipe of the table and the seat when you are finished
it’s very simple
can you imagine if each person did this each and every time? can you imagine how clean and much more pleasant it would be
return the ketchups the napkins and the sauces if you don’t use them
let’s make the world a better place TOGETHER
kick the habit of the tendency to say “i didn’t do it”
Leave things better than how you found them
other examples
shower
personal and public bathroom
waiting area
anywhere public
etc
There’s no place like home for the holidays!

Command respect, don’t demand it.
Ladies part of being a “Lady” is being gracious.
Fellas are more apt to treat you like a “lady” if you act like one.
Fellas part of being a “Man” or a “Gentleman” is knowing how to treat a Lady. Chivalry is not dead.
These are some of the truths that I expound upon in my book “Catching More Flies with Honey than Vinegar.”

For example:
Instead of saying “what?” when you don’t hear someone, try saying “excuse me” or “I beg your pardon” or even a gentle “I’m sorry, would you mind repeating yourself? I didn’t hear you.”
All of those are better then saying “what?” with a stank attitude or annoyed expression on your face, and I guarantee that you will get your desired result.

‘Tis the Season!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are my “most favorite” time of the year, and so I thought it would be a good idea that the theme of my Daily Diamondisms would be to highlight a few things to remember during this very special (and very busy) time of year…

Door etiquette
>> If someone holds the door for you, SAY THANK YOU. Nobody is anybody’s Doorman. Just a little common courtesy goes a long way. Please do not get beside yourself and forget your manners.

>> When entering or exiting, look behind you and hold the door for other people! Genuine kindness is mutually beneficial for the soul.

>> In the very busy and crowded streets of New York, things can get a little hectic and congested over the holidays. If you venture out into the street, please remember that you are not alone. Hello, there are at least 8 million people in this city! Please do not carelessly swing open cab doors, and then not even care to see if you hit someone. Please pay attention to your surroundings and look to see if there are others closely nearby BEFORE you swing open a cab door.

Elevator etiquette
>> Can you imagine what a difference saying “Hello” or “Good morning” in elevator makes in the life of another person? Do you have any idea? You should really try it, and mean it in love. Steal away from your blackberry or cell phone and acknowledge human pressence, and feel how liberating and freeing it is. Witness what a great day you will actually have as a result. You will be amazed.

Happiness is as Happiness does. Smile, spread the good cheer. It’s contagious!

Happy Labor Day!!! Yay!!!
