The proper response to “Thank you” is “You’re welcome.”
There are no substitutes. For example, not saying anything at all is not appropriate.
Also, “no worries” and “not a problem” are NOT the same as “You’re welcome.”
If someone sneezes, say “God bless you.”
And if someone says “God bless you” after you sneeze, then you should say “Thank you.”
Extend the same courtesies as you would expect, or even better than you would expect.
You’ll be amazed at the outcome.

Treat everyone with Dignity and Respect.
We are brothers and sisters. We are all One.
Be patient with people, and do not attempt to exalt yourself over someone else.
Say something kind every day, and practice goodwill to others.
Spread the love and help other people who are need.
You never know when you will be up, or when you could be down.
In everything, give thanks.
Happy Holidays!

What better time to show (or begin to show, if you never have) our goodwill to others than the holidays!
Leave things better than how you found them
For example
a small, but common example of how you can do this
at McDonalds, we’ve all been to McDonalds or some fast food place
clean up after yourself
take a napkin and wipe of the table and the seat when you are finished
it’s very simple
can you imagine if each person did this each and every time? can you imagine how clean and much more pleasant it would be
return the ketchups the napkins and the sauces if you don’t use them
let’s make the world a better place TOGETHER
kick the habit of the tendency to say “i didn’t do it”
Leave things better than how you found them
other examples
shower
personal and public bathroom
waiting area
anywhere public
etc
There’s no place like home for the holidays!

Command respect, don’t demand it.
Ladies part of being a “Lady” is being gracious.
Fellas are more apt to treat you like a “lady” if you act like one.
Fellas part of being a “Man” or a “Gentleman” is knowing how to treat a Lady. Chivalry is not dead.
These are some of the truths that I expound upon in my book “Catching More Flies with Honey than Vinegar.”

For example:
Instead of saying “what?” when you don’t hear someone, try saying “excuse me” or “I beg your pardon” or even a gentle “I’m sorry, would you mind repeating yourself? I didn’t hear you.”
All of those are better then saying “what?” with a stank attitude or annoyed expression on your face, and I guarantee that you will get your desired result.

‘Tis the Season!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are my “most favorite” time of the year, and so I thought it would be a good idea that the theme of my Daily Diamondisms would be to highlight a few things to remember during this very special (and very busy) time of year…

Door etiquette
>> If someone holds the door for you, SAY THANK YOU. Nobody is anybody’s Doorman. Just a little common courtesy goes a long way. Please do not get beside yourself and forget your manners.

>> When entering or exiting, look behind you and hold the door for other people! Genuine kindness is mutually beneficial for the soul.

>> In the very busy and crowded streets of New York, things can get a little hectic and congested over the holidays. If you venture out into the street, please remember that you are not alone. Hello, there are at least 8 million people in this city! Please do not carelessly swing open cab doors, and then not even care to see if you hit someone. Please pay attention to your surroundings and look to see if there are others closely nearby BEFORE you swing open a cab door.

Elevator etiquette
>> Can you imagine what a difference saying “Hello” or “Good morning” in elevator makes in the life of another person? Do you have any idea? You should really try it, and mean it in love. Steal away from your blackberry or cell phone and acknowledge human pressence, and feel how liberating and freeing it is. Witness what a great day you will actually have as a result. You will be amazed.

Happiness is as Happiness does. Smile, spread the good cheer. It’s contagious!

Diamondism #318 – La Gentillesse et La Politesse

“You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar!” It is no coincidence that that also is the title of my most recent book (©2006 Diamond Girl Publishing). My mother used to tell my sisters and me that same saying over and over again when we were young, and as we grew into beautiful ladies, on the inside and out.

So, since when did it become cute, ok, or “acceptable” to be mean, vicious, malicious, spiteful, attitudinal, conniving, selfish, and deceitful? Since when? Since never!!! And it is not cute to not have manners and to use foul language. It actually makes you look really stupid and really crass and low class. And it reveals a deep, inner, self-loathsome spirit that you are trying so desperately to hide! And you wonder why people don’t want to be bothered with you…

Instead, be gracious to one another, and in turn, grace will be given unto you. Practice goodwill toward others. Our blessings come in willfully helping other people!

Be worldly, honest, openminded, colorful, cultured, educated, virtuous, caring, and understanding. Be genuinely kind and sincere. If you fall down, I know it’s hard, but you’ve got to get back up and dust yourself off! Learn from your mistakes and BE DAZZLING!

Love.. Always,
Diamond
